Workshop intention

The Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga workshop is designed to support Ashtanga yoga practitioners, who have been out of practice along with those of you, practising different styles of yoga, and interested to taste Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga.

The course will be held at our studio in the centre of Horsham and online. Sessions will be recorded and available for 30 days.

What is Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga?

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a moving meditation method of Hatha yoga, which involves synchronising the mind and the breath with a progressive, dynamic series of postures. This process produces intense internal heat, that detoxifies muscles and organs. The goal of the practice is to make every breath, every movement a conscious one and to establish a meditative flow, withdrawing our senses, calming the mind and moving  with grace, strength and mindfulness.

Covered in the workshop

  • Foundations of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga: Ujjayi breathing, Drishti yogic gaze,  Vinyasa technique, Bandha internal locks.
  • Classical yogic breathing techniques.

What do our students say about our Ashtanga Introduction events

“It was a great honour for me to take part in the Yoga Beginners’ course online. Irina is a super master: super professional, super smart, super patient, super clear, accurate and precise. I have learnt a lot from her, not only about yoga, but also about life. Irina has a very rare talent to teach without letting you feel bored or “detached”.  My favorite part of the course was the one which was dedicated to breathing! As I live in Sheffield, I couldn’t attend her classes physically, but I can say that even online, it’s worth a go. Thank you Irina for your warmth, your generosity and your time; you are one of a kind!” – Ilaria, Sheffield

“As a complete novice I found the yoga beginners course to be a perfect introduction to Ashtanga yoga. Irina is a brilliant teacher, warm and encouraging and I’m looking forward to continuing with her classes. Thank you x.” – Louise, Horsham

“I decided to join Iriness, because I felt from the website that it was an authentic yoga studio. I found Yoga beginners course really awesome, as it entailed many pillars of yoga, such as pranayama, meditation, asana, philosophy. After the course I realised I could not stop my yoga ? so here I still am. Since I started practising yoga with Irina, I feel stronger and more in connection with myself from the physical and mental standpoints. Every time I join the class, I feel better, no matter which kind of day I had. Yoga tools help me with day to day life, giving one step at a time approach. Some things in yoga seem absolutely impossible to do at first, but then you suddenly achieve them, one step at a time. So I take this approach to my daily life too. I enjoy coming to Iriness every time, because of the community of people here and of the passion and dedication that Irina puts in each class. And, mostly, because of the tailored approach Irina has with every student. I am always looking forward to the next class. It’s a beautiful way to start your yoga journey at Iriness, every day you’ll discover yourself a little bit more.” – Laura, Horsham

“The Yoga Beginners’ Course with Irina was my introduction as a student to Ashtanga, having practised other disciplines of yoga over many years. Irina has a wealth of knowledge, expertise and patience, wrapped in humour and love for her students. Her wisdom and teachings of the asana combined with philosophy, have been an intrinsic part of my continuing yoga journey and encouraged me to delve deeper into my own practice. Irina’s enthusiasm for self development has ensured that we explore and discover all the time. She is never afraid to share her own learning and be open to the possibilities of what we can explore together.” – Louise, Horsham – yoga teacher

“Best yoga experience I had for years! I could not recommend Iriness Yoga Horsham enough. Both teachers Irina and Charlotte are amazing and very passionate about yoga. You’ll always feel welcome and quickly become their yoga family ” – Emilia, Horsham
