Course intention

The Ashtanga & Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga beginners’ course is designed to provide our new students with the foundations of yoga.  We’ll introduce to you the empowering tools of yoga such as yogic breathwork, postural flow and mind stilling meditations. Yogic practices will help your body get stronger and more flexible, your breath more free and relaxing, and your mind more calm and balanced.

The course will be held at our studio in the centre of Horsham, just off New street 113. Sessions will be recorded and available for 30 days.

What is Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga?

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a moving meditation method of Hatha yoga, which involves synchronising the mind and the breath with a progressive, dynamic series of postures. This process produces intense internal heat, that detoxifies muscles and organs. The goal of the practice is to make every breath, every movement a conscious one and to establish a meditative flow, withdrawing our senses, calming the mind and moving  with grace, strength and mindfulness.

We adapt yogic practices to our students, so everyone is welcome to our courses, there are no prerequisites besides desire to learn something new and magical and open mind :-).

Course modules

  • Breathing patterns: creating harmonious ways for guiding your breath during yoga practice and daily life to alleviate stress, anxiety as well as lethargy and depression.
  • Sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga: from sun salutes to the standing postures and an introduction to the finishing sequences, to enable more mobility and strength.
  • Concentration skills: learning to integrate senses through drishti/the yogic gaze technique, becoming more focussed not only during our classes but in your daily life.
  • Body energy locks: learning to practise from our very centre; from inside out, conserving energy and creating more harmony within.

Course students

We keep this course intimate with only  12 students at our well ventilated  modern yoga studio in Horsham. Novices to yoga, to Ashtanga vinyasa yoga and returners are equally welcome!

Course teacher

The course will be led by Irina Pashkevich Bourdier, the founder of Iriness Yoga & Wellbeing. Irina is a recognised Senior yoga teacher and Teachers’ trainer with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK. She has been a steadfast yoga practitioner for more than 25 years, teaching yoga since 2008. Visit the About page for more information about Irina.

Course timeline

The course offers ~20 hours of yoga training during 8 week period:

  • 3 x 2h Saturday sessions 10am-12pm: April 22nd, 29th & May 6th.  These are both theory and practice sessions of your course, which will provide foundation for you attending 6 additional classes during the week.
  • 6 x ~1h45m classes on our schedule from April 23rd to June 11th . You can attend any class on our daily schedule – they all will be adjusted for the beginners’ level.

We recommend attending at least 2 classes a week including Saturday’s theory/practice sessions. More often you practise in the beginning, deeper and faster it will all sink into the body, the breath and the mind.

Course investment

Discounted rate of £125 (£7/h) for the 17 hours of the tuition from the Senior yoga teacher.

There is no cancellation policy, since all sessions will be available on demand for 30 days. Should the event be cancelled by Iriness Yoga & Wellbeing, you will be offered a refund.
