Our lives are not always as straight forward as we would like them to be. At times we can be left feeling emotionally and physically exhausted, or confused, or numb, or lonely, or vulnerable, or angry or overwhelmed. We can be going through a crisis, a loss, a feeling of being stuck in memories of past experiences, a feeling of low self-esteem and sometimes we do not know why we don’t feel right, we just know we don’t feel right.
Alison can help you to explore what is going on and enable you to find your inner resources to change what is not right for you, and in what cannot be changed, to look at what it is and manage and find acceptance. In your time together Alison will hold the space for you, hear your story, witness your feelings, and sometimes gently challenge your beliefs. Counselling is not about giving advice or fixing; indeed, it can be hard work and challenging at times. But that is the magic of your own potency which may have been hidden away. Alison work holistically; and when we are fully present in the here and now, we can create the potential for more excitement, energy, and courage to live life more freely.
I have always been interested in people and have a curiosity about places and different ways of life. Having had counselling through difficult times, and then experiencing a feeling of unburdening and full acceptance of how I wished to live my life, I wanted to share this with others.
So, here is a little bit about me. I worked in the world of business and management, noticing how the dynamics between people and their environment relate, the importance of humour, curiosity, and kindness; sometimes how we can all get ‘stuck’ in fixed patterns of thinking, doing and relating. My diverse background later both in health and social care, has given me the rich experience of being alongside those from all walks of life.
Family life and my own children growing up brought new challenges and opportunities I never thought possible, and I now share my home in Horsham, West Sussex, with my husband and cats.
Amongst many experiences in life, some exhilarating, some difficult and some interesting, the power of nature and the freedom of the outdoors is very important to me; experiencing something special about being ‘out there’ no matter what the weather or the time of day; it just is what it is.
